Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie, the gubernatorial candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) in Edo state, recently addressed members of the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Benin City during their monthly meeting. While he stated that his visit was meant to engage with the youth arm of the church because he was born into a Catholic family, he took the opportunity to highlight his manifesto and plans for the state.
Aikoriogie stated to have a comprehensive 68-page manifesto that surpasses those of other major political parties in the state. He emphasized the need for reforms in the health sector, promising to implement a robust health plan that focuses on all three levels of healthcare delivery – primary, secondary, and tertiary. He highlighted the importance of attracting and retaining healthcare professionals in the state to prevent brain drain and improve healthcare services.
In terms of job creation, Aikoriogie expressed his commitment to providing employment opportunities for the youth in Edo state. He also addressed the issue of constant electricity supply, stating his plans to ensure 24-hour electricity availability for the state’s industries.
Furthermore, Aikoriogie discussed the need to diversify the state’s economy beyond its reliance on oil, with a focus on revitalizing the agricultural sector. He proposed setting up industries in Edo state to retain and empower the state’s youth and contribute to the overall economic growth of the region.
While he acknowledged the challenges facing the state, Aikoriogie remained optimistic about the potential for positive change through his proposed policies and initiatives. As the gubernatorial elections draw nearer, his manifesto and vision for Edo state are likely to be closely scrutinized by voters and other political contenders.
