In a recent interview on PFM situation room on social media platforms, Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie, the gubernatorial candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), opened up about the painful experiences of marginalization and grave injustice he faced at the hands of the Labour Party in Edo state.
Dr. Aikoriogie revealed that he was the mastermind behind the renovation and painting of the state secretariat of the Labour Party in Edo state, as well as in more than five local governments. With his efforts, he played a crucial role in making the Labour Party attractive and relevant in the state.
However, as the campaigns for the Labour Party began, Dr. Aikoriogie witnessed a disturbing trend. Wealthy individuals started flocking to the party, bringing with them corruption and a loss of relevance. The Labour Party, once a party of the people, was seemingly transformed into a party driven by money.
Feeling marginalized and disillusioned, Dr. Aikoriogie made the difficult decision to leave the Labour Party, seeking refuge in the National Rescue Movement (NRM). The NRM, he believed, represented a platform for true change and a departure from the corruption that had infiltrated the Labour Party.
During the interview, Dr. Aikoriogie expressed his disappointment at the Labour Party’s treatment of him. “The marginalization and grave injustice I experienced were very painful. I dedicated my time and efforts to make the party a force to be reckoned with in Edo state, but it saddens me to see how it lost its way,” he stated.
Dr. Aikoriogie’s departure from the Labour Party can be seen as a significant blow to the party’s credibility, as it loses a dedicated and influential member who played a pivotal role in its rise. The National Rescue Movement, on the other hand, gains a valuable candidate with a wealth of experience and a commitment to restoring integrity in politics.
As the gubernatorial elections draw near, Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie presents himself as a candidate ready to lead the people of Edo state on a path of positive change, vowing to fight against corruption and injustice, and ensure that the interests of the people are a priority.
It remains to be seen how Dr. Aikoriogie’s departure will impact the Labour Party and if the National Rescue Movement will be able to capitalize on this opportunity to gain further support in Edo state. The upcoming elections are set to be a crucial test for both parties, as the people of Edo state decide the future direction of their governance.
